An opportunity of a lifetime... and I'm only twenty!  This topic explains everything, but in short, let's say that I have a chance to make $35,000/yr or more.  Consider my age, and then think about how much money that is to me.  Granted, it's minimal for supporting a family, but then again, what family do I have to support?  Exactly.  With this news, you can expect bigger and better things for Argentos Online, including a virtual dedicated server sometime in the near future, as well as more space, more bandwidth, and none of that horrible shared server lag that you've all grown so accustomed to as of late.  I'm looking forward to this.  Let's just hope it doesn't fall through, eh?

{Congratulations!} are in order for Dawezy!  New domain, {Do you need it?}

Everyone's favorite Australian bastard has finally followed my lead and purchased his own domain, which can be seen at DAWEZY.COM.  A big thanks go out to GoDaddy.com for not only providing his website with a new home, but mine as well!  (I figure, eh, fuck, forgot to mention it earlier, so why not now?)

By all means, give the ol' mate a visit, eh?

Happy birthday to me!  Conceited much?  Perhaps, but when Cyanide decided to feature me on his index, I figured I might as well play the role of the lemming and do the same.  So, today I turned 20, thusly ending teenagedom as I know it.

A notice for anyone who pays attention to my affiliates:
Next Generation Kanji now has a new domain.  Congratulations to Cyanide on his newfound freedom on t3h intarweb!

UPDATE:  Two quick things.  I've been working on a new "How to Affiliate" section, which can be found in the Argentos Online segment of the navigation to your left.  I have accompanied this new addition with new advertising banners; specifically, four of them today.  Also, my friend Harut has graciously sent me a few of his drawings to be placed in the visual arts section, so I will have those up momentarily.  It's been a pretty big day for AO and its associates!

ArgentosOnline is unofficially hosting the FFVI hardtype ROM patch!  Now, I don't have official permission (hence the unofficial) to do this, but with the proper crediting, I hope to continue serving fellow gamers everywhere with the translated version of the Japanese title.  For those unaware, many Japanese titles that are ported to North America are often "gimped" because American gamers are "too stupid" to handle the real thing.  Well, friends, prepare to experience the real thing... and then some.

This hacked (and thusly even harder) version of FFVI will have you playing for hours, and cursing at the screen while you're at it.  Created by i90east, a user at Caves of Narshe, and provided to me by a friend of mine from TFF, awall, I now present to you FFVI Hardtype.

Changes include the removal of the Vanish/Doom trick, the patching of multiple bugs, and the gimping of espers.  For a full list of changes, click here.  Note that this is a copy from archive.org, so the site is no longer active -- that's why I've opted to host this glorious beast of a ROM hack here.

So, without further ado, I'll quit procrastinating.
If you want this ROM patch, simply click here to download.

Please note that this is ONLY the patch.  You will also need a copy of the ROM as well as an emulator to play it on.  As for the ROM, I've got it right here.  I strongly suggest ZSNES as your emulator, which you can download from EmuAsylum here.  If you place the ROM file and the IPS (patch) file in the same directory, then ZSNES will automatically patch the file for you, thus allowing you to play FFVI hardtype with minimal work.  DO NOT CHANGE THE FILENAMES OF THE ROM OR IPS FILE, OR IT WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY.  And for anyone wondering why I didn't jut put it all together... didn't you know it's illegal to pass around hacked games?  Gosh, do your own hacking, ya lazy bums.

I know that's a lot of things to click on, but trust me when I say it's worthwhile.

With a little help from Fuzz, I learned a thing or two about SSI and have effectively reduced each page's physical size due to calls that run to an external head and nav file.  If that means nothing to you, don't worry.  In plain English, the navigation of the site is more efficient than it was before.

Houston, we have content!  Rather than starting the site by loading it with my own content, I have decided to open the Written User Submissions section with a work-in-progress by Steve Sams titled "Binge and Purge."  More information regarding this submission can be found in its appropriate section, or by following the link above.

Other news for today includes the new interface of the website.  No longer is the index a simple "oh, hey, look... here's a forum, and there might be some crap here one day" message.  Pages are coming together as you read this, and fewer and fewer 404 pages will be found.  Though the design is simple, it is functional, and that is what I happen to be aiming for.

UPDATE:  The Visual User Submissions page now exists as well, thanks to a friend of mine and his permission to use some of his images.

HOLY CARP ON A STICK, BATMAN!  Argentos Online HAS MOVED TO ITS OWN DOMAIN!

Amazing, isn't it?  Well, now that I've finally moved to my own space, I'll feel more comfortable adding content.  If you're wondering, Argentos Online is a space for writers of all kinds, as well as artists, web programmers, and videogamers alike.  The site's content will revolve primarily around written works, as well as guides to better writing.  The forums focus on written and visual arts, but also feature sections for programming, videogaming, and general discussion.  If you've got a piece you'd like critiqued, feel free to post it in the forum.  All in all, Argentos Online is a place for everyone to sit back, relax, and converse.  And who knows?  Once the content goes up, you might actually learn a thing or two.
